Presented is a vintage c. 1937 serving set by esteemed London silversmith Robert Edgar Stone in its original fitted presentation case.
They are handcrafted of heavy gauge sterling silver & hand-cut lead crystal.
The oblong crystal dishes rest on silver stands with wide feet and fabulous flared handles.
The matching servers have a flat pointed blade and handles that match the silver stands.
These can be used for a variety of foods, with or without the servers:
butter, jam, salt, nuts, bonbons, mints, and so on...
A stunning design and great example of British Art Deco.
Marks
Stands & servers are fully hallmarked as shown.
The silver stands also have a stamped “R. E. Stone” signature
Box is imprinted with the name of the retailer, Charles Packer, and has a celluloid label reading HAND MADE.
Measurements
Silver bases measure 5 1/2” across the handles and 1 7/16” to the top of the handles
Crystal inserts measure 3 7/8” by 2 7/8” by 7/8”
Serving knives measaures 4 7/16”
Total silver weight 7.4ozt/230g
Condition
Overall excellent condition.
As shown in the photos, each crystal dish has one corner with minor flakes, and one has a small rough spot to the interior.
Not major--I’d ignore them, but a professional can grind and polish them out if you desire.
Minor wear and tear to the box exterior.
