Description
c. 1863 - 1880 Galt Gieve & co Outfitters Portsmouth tin box most likely for Epaulettes.They were makers of elite Royal British Navy commissioned officers clothing. Gieves was established in the 18th century and became a
celebrated supplier of the British Royal Navy with its first royal warrant being awarded in 1799. The tin box has the brass badge with company and Royal warrant.
Hard to find box to go with collections of 19th c. British Royal Navy commissioned officers dress uniforms. The box measures approx 10” long x 7 3/4” wide x 5 3/4” high. There is a small lock on the box, I do not have a key.
