The 2021 design features a sleepy koala nestled between the branches of a eucalyptus tree. Inscriptions atop the artwork include AUSTRALIAN KOALA, 2021, 1 OZ and 9999 SILVER. The Perth Mint's mint mark, "P", is to one side of the design. The obverse design features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and inscriptions that include the face value of the coin, ELIZABETH II and AUSTRALIA.
Struck in .9999 fine silver.The coin's reverse includes a security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter within the design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
