Description
Antique c1900 Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Trophy Style Compote Raised Dish/BowlPresented is an antique, solid sterling silver compote, tazza or pedestal bowl/dish made during the late 1800 or early 1900s. The compote was retailed by Smith Patterson, which was an old Boston, MA retailer. We are not sure who the maker is but it is most certainly a wonderful quality company such as Gorham, Whiting or International. This ornate piece is done in an Art Nouveau style and has a sort of trophy form to it. The whole piece is done in an openwork form and the dish portion is pierced with design. The center of the bowl has an old, original monogram of the letter R.
The underside is marked Smith Patterson Co and sterling.
This piece is in excellent overall condition with only very minor surface wear and a dent to the base, but this is not really noticeable.
The compote measures 13 inches from handle to handle and is 8 3/4 inches tall.
Weight: 956 grams.
