    This is a beautifully executed
    matching pair of
    custom order
    1816
    British sterling oval entree dishes.
    From the London shop of
    William Stroud,
    first listed 1788.
    The set features an
    elegantly cast Knight finial,
    custom ordered
    for a favorite client
    of the shop.
    Hallmarked as shown, cover base and finial
    all matching.
    And, matching three, or two "dots" to cover and base,
    indicating the
    original cover for that base.
    Entrees were made in sets of four, eight and so on,
    and over the decades covers and bases mismatched
    resulting in their being ill fit.
    This custom order 1816 British sterling Knight's helmet entree dishes
    is 12 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 and set weighs 112 standard ounces.
    In very fine condition.
    The entree appears little used.
    None of the usual harsh knife marks to interior of base.
