    DESCRIPTION:
    Up for auction...A very SCARCE and
    RARE early 1800's MEXICAN ARTILLERY CARTRIDGE BOX or SHOULDER STRAP PLATE / BADGE / INSIGNIA.  Have found only one similar on the San Jacinto Museum web site, plus the three we have to sell.  It depicts a torch above a shield and crossed cannons.  It is pressed brass and comes from an estate/collection out of Texas.  This was probably worn during the Mexican War of 1846 to 1848.
