    Description

    Quite uncommon plate. This is a dug model 1819 belt plate (unfortunately, I have no record of where it was found). Clear "U.S." on front. Stabilized corrosion on the reverse. All three wire prongs remain on the back. Measures 3 x 2 1/8 inches.
    These plates were designed by George Armitage in Philadelphia. Only about 5,000 were made.
