    Description

This is a fairly rare French Officers Sword. The guard is the pattern 1822 officers pattern , but with out the phrygian helmet pommel as is common. Instead it has a Lion Head pommel. The hilt is brass mounted with a nice age patina. The grip is black horn with two wire styles one plain the other twisted fairly tight with a few wires out of place. The slightly curved plain blade is in fine  antique condition . the back of the blade is marked in script " 1860 Man u ( ? ) mo( for model )  1822 " . It is complete with it's steel scabbard with a dark age finish. The overall length is 41 " with a 34 1/2" blade. the length of the blade might indicate a cavalry Officer. A unique French Officers sword at No Reserve and a low opening bid.
