    Description

Stunning 1902 English Sterling Silver Green Glass Art Nouveau Centerpiece Bowl
Presented is a fabulous antique English sterling silver and green glass
centerpiece bowl. This piece dates to 1902 and was made in Birmingham, likely by
Levi & Salaman. The sterling silver portion of the piece is made in a
gorgeous Art Nouveau style typical of the time to which it dates, with sinuous,
serpentine openwork decoration around the sides and forming the tops of the
handles. The glass is a rich and vivid emerald green, very appealing and visible
through the openwork decoration. The quality of this piece is exceptional, the
silver work well done and of a good weight. The overall look of the piece just
screams high Art Nouveau, in the league of Archibald Knox or Liberty & Co
    pieces.
This piece is in excellent condition. The glass is in great shape, with no
chips or cracks. The silver has no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram
    removals and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the
anchor for the city of Birmingham, the date letter C for 1902, and the maker's
mark L&S likely for Levi & Salaman.
The bowl measures about 15 x 8 1/2 inches and stands about 5 1/2 inches tall.
The total weight for the piece is 2087 grams. The weight of just the silver
portion is 692 grams, or 24.4 regular ounces.
