    Description

    Chrysanthemum sterling silver compote. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Rectilinear well with raised center oval; lobed shoulder and scalloped turned-down rim. Bellied support and raised foot with 4 splayed supports. Controlled leaf-and-flower arrangement on rim and support, and wilder excrescence on foot. Rare form. An early piece in this pattern, which was first produced in 1880. Fully marked including pattern no. 5726 and director's letter M (1873-91).
