Greetings:
We are offering for sale a US Model 1833 DRAGOON SWORD with Original Scabbard
This sword is HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE
Manufactured by NP AMES CUTLERY of SPRINGFIELD, MA
Dated 1837
Sword features a 39 1/4" Blade which is hand engraved "NP AMES CUTLERY SPRINGFIELD 1837" on one side of the ricasso and "UNITED STATES" on the other. The blade shows scattered surface, oxidation wear. The leather washer is intact with minor loss. The brass quillon is marked "WS", "HKC" and "RD". The guard shows scattered marks from its years in service. The leather grip remains very attractive with light wear; Brass wire wrapping intact. Stepped pommel very attractive.
Original scabbard is very good with a brown patina. Scabbard shows varying signs of surface wear. Rings intact.
