    Description

Vintage trundle sewing machine from the early 1900's. Needs trundle cord (available on ebay) but otherwise in good condition. No need to worry about a power outage to use this machine.
This Singer 66 originated in 1907 and was made until approximately1956. Singer set the bar for many decades with the 66. It’s bobbin and horizontal oscillating hook are still being used by many “modern” sewing machines being manufactured to this day. It is a heavy-duty domestic sewing machine that is also very heavy in weight. Tipping the scales at 33 lbs., made treadle cabinets and tables it’s most common partner when it was sold. There were also hand cranks and electric models sold.
When Singer originally made the 66 it was considered a stoke of genius. It could sew any thickness of material from silk to heavy canvas. It was the first horizontal rotary hook arrangement with a drop in bobbin. It simplified loading the bobbin, which prior was not the easiest of tasks. What really set it apart from all other machines at that time was the near perfect stitch. Unique to the 66, the back-clamping presser bar.
