This superb engraved pattern sterling silver porringer was made by the silversmiths of
Webster Company
of
North Attleboro, Massachusetts,
and
is decorated to the sides with scenes from a day in the life of a young rabbit, possibly Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit. The first scene shows his mother packing him off to school, and the last shows him wearing a dunce's cap while the schoolmistress chastises another pupil who is throwing a carrot at the rabbit in the dunce's cap. This charming item remains
